Single wall cabinet sizing confusion
Post by WhoDaresWins »
I need two new single units to replace a double unit already on the wall (it partly sits over my cooker and I want a single unit either side instead). My confusion lies with the sizes. I measured the existing cabinet and deduced that the size cabinets I require is:
500mm wide x 720mm high x 290mm deep
However, upon trying to find new cabinets in this size I find that cabinets tend to be 735mm high and 320mm deep etc. Did I meausre them correctly? I measured the outside perfectly from what i could tell.

So does the depth include the width of the door?

Aha, found the one I need!
http://www.diy.com/departments/cooke-le ... 712_BQ.prd
It has three shelves but I'm assuming I can just use one in the middle?

Also, I take it these come with the brackets and adjustment blocks in the top corners? As it doesn't show them in the photo.

They are just the carcase, no door included. It is usual for all the fittings needed to be included but you can get them in BnQ anyway.

Those B&Q ones sound a bit cheap and flimsy judging from the reviews. Can anyone recommend another company to buy from that have a range of sizes?

It is an 18mm carcase and to be fair most of the self assembly carcases get their strength from being screwed to other units and the wall. The pre-made cabinets have an edge I guess but I do not think that it is a big issue. There are millions of cabinets like this in use.

Yes, of course. I have done a couple of BnQ kitchens and never had a carcase fail. It is your choice at the end of the day.
