Hi
I recently grouted some floor tiles in the utility room, putting the grout (Mapei) in, removing most of the excess and finally cleaning off with a cloth about an hour later. The tiles came up perfectly.
Then purchased another batch of the same tiles, did the same and cannot remove the grout on the surface, have tried a sponge, a cloth, a green scourer, a nail brush and the grout seems fused into the surface of the tile. Am now trying Tile Rite cement away which is having no effect.
In the past have tiled 4 bathrooms, 4 kitchens, 4 utility rooms and the tiles came up perfect every time. This has never happened to me before and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this and what the solution might be. I've spoken to the shop who insist the tiles are non porus and should come up ok!
Cheers

Re: Can't get grout off tiles
Have you tried a window/glass scraper like the stanley with a bullnose blade they seem to work without damaging the tiles there are others so long as you don't dig in with it it shouldn't damage the tile

Try this stuff https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Grout-F ... L/p/166088 failing that some brick acid might help http://www.jewson.co.uk/building-materi ... leaner-5l/

Re: Can't get grout off tiles
Thanks for the advice so far...Not sure if the scraper idea will work because there is a texture to the top of the tile and it's in the tiny grooves that the grout is sitting.
This is annoying as we asked for the same tiles as as per the utility room (which were fine) and these obviously are not!
Will try some ot the other solutions, maybe a brass wire brush or something.

+1 on the brick acid, try it watered down at first and have clean water to neutralise it quickly
Mapei like a lot of the powders is cement based
