Tiled access hatch / door

Post by DIYnot23 »

Hi All,

I am installing a laundry chute with a tiled access hatch / door in the bathroom. It will be fully tiled and around 300 x 300mm, it also needs to be 30min fire resistant. Does anybody know the best places to buy them? I have found Jakdor but they are very expensive. Or does anyone have bright ideas about making one?

I will also need one to access under the bath but this can be siliconed in or for service access only not regular use like the laundry chute.

Thanks

I've used http://www.accesspanels.co.uk, not for a laundry chute though, but a good sized panel.

Worth spending good money on, it'll presumably be used a lot, a cheap one won't last well.

Thanks columbiers, I will certainly get something of quality.

Another thought. The hatches with plaster bead with plaster inserts are much less exspensive that the special tile hatch. So why don't i just buy one of those and tile over it?

Any thoughts?
