My laptop not recognizing password

Post by ccozury »

The issue happens after installing an software (repair my pc), which seems a malware and uninstall it immediately. However, the computer reboots automatically after install and my password is not recognized by the computer.

<sigh> - you've just successfully sent your password to the spammers. This is what the malware does - fools you into thinking everything is ok and asks you to log on but it's a 'fake screen' and your password entry has just gone off to them!

DISCONNECT IT FROM THE INTERNET IMMEDIATELY! They could be receiving the contents of your HDD as you read this!

Reformat your HDD (you have backed up your data haven't you) and reset the passwords WHERE EVER YOU HAVE THEM (on line and off line). If you had personal (potentially incriminating) evidence on the HDD be prepared to be blackmailed.........

They could also encrypt your HDD and demand payment for the key to unlock it (which they will never give you regardless of whether you pay or not).

In future, install decent malware protection and NEVER load software or click on links you don't trust 100%

Already disconnect from Internet. The problem is that I only backed up part of data to OneDrive so I would prefer resetting the password. If it doesn't work, then reinstall is the only option.

If you have another computer or use of a friend's computer, you could download a bootable anti virus programme and let it scan your hard disk. It may be able to fix the problem. Here is the Kaspersky version https://support.kaspersky.co.uk/14226

As a second approach, you can download a bootable version of linux and most likely you can read and copy your data files from the windows hard disk to say an external disk. There is a risk you may copy the virus too though.

There are free programs I can't remember what's it's called which you install onto a USB drive. Then you boot up off the usb and it will reset your windows password.
You can then login and try and retrieve whatever data you need, if it's still there, before wiping your pc.

I had to do this for someone but can't remember exactly which software I used.

Try this one

You have a lot of solutions, but they only waste of your time.
most effective way is use a password reset disk to boot and reset password for your Windows 10 .
Just like that :https://www.tunesbro.com/reset-windows-10-password.html
