small tiles vs big tiles

The pattern is exactly what I have been looking for, i know that topps tiles do these victorian encaustic effect tiles for some £45 per sqm.

Topps tiles isn't even porcelain either.

The only drawback is the small size, at 18.6cm by 18.6cm these are pretty small for a floor tiles which means a lot of pourous grout is needed which equals high propensity to water damage.

My thinking was to get tiles which are as big as possible to limit the pourousness of the floor. Am I right in thinking this way?

It's down to your personal choice but the bigger the tile the less time to lay the whole floor. If you are carrying out the work and not a tradesman then labour cost is no issue.

As you say small tiles means more grout.

You can't have it both ways. It is up to you to decide what to choose. But it if helps a little I just googled for swimming pool grout and here is the first line I found https://www.bostik.com/markets--applica ... ile-grout/. I am sure there are more brands.

When you mix the grout (with water) what happens???

Answer: it dries out

They're about the right size for Victorian tiles.

If that's the look you want, big ones would be wrong.

they tend to have 4 "tiles" in one. so they are 450mm by 450mm. But that's fine. I'm happy to do it with the tiles as i really like the pattern
