Wipers getting 'stuck' on setting 1. Help appreciated.

Hello. My car is a 2014 Seat Ibiza 1.4 TSI ACT FR.

I'm trying to avoid paying out £300 for a new wiper motor. My front window wipers work fine on setting 2 and above but when i put it on the slow setting (setting 1) it regularly locks up in the exact same spot on the windscreen.

It goes up and then about two thirds of the way back down it just stops in place and i have to turn the wipers off and back on again to restart it. This is an intermittent problem and it doesn't happen all the time, some days it does it worse than others. Any suggestions as to what this may be would be helpful. I've brought it to multiple mechanics. The best they've all said is to replace the motor.

I thought it could've been a problem with the electrics somewhere or a 'relay' problem, i have no idea if my car has a wiper relay as i think a lot of modern cars have them built in to the motor. I thought that a motor problem would mean my wipers would fail consistently, or have trouble completing a full cycle on any setting. But it's only on the first setting on my car.
