I am having trouble with a word docx file on both my iPhone and iPad running latest IOS.
It’s 5 pages long, needs to be printed off and filled in with pen, all appears ok until the last page where some boxes for filling in information are appearing jumbled up and overlapping each other meaning that not only does it look wrong but you also can’t fill in all of the information because some of the boxes are covered by other ones.
It is like this when viewing on my iPhone and iPad and also on the paper when printed out from my iPhone or iPad. Tried converting it to a pdf format to see if that would help but all the tools or apps to convert it seem to want a monthly subscription fee.
As a last resort I got my old desktop pc out of the cupboard which hasn’t been used for about two years and I wasn’t planning on using again, set it all up and was hoping this would open the document correctly but it won’t even open it as the document was created on a newer version of word than my computer runs. Even if it did open on my pc I would then have problems printing because when I tried to run the disc to install the drivers for my wireless printer it can’t load it because it says my pc operating system is too old (Vista).
Does anyone know of any options I have to get around this? Any iOS apps that can convert the docx to pdf etc that don’t require me to sign up to a monthly subscription fee?
Anything that I can do to my pc to make the document open with newer version of word that I don’t have? Apache OpenOffice or anything like that? and then how would I get the pc
to work with my printer?
I could go out and buy an up to date pc with windows 10 and Microsoft office etc but it is so rare that I need to use a pc that I would prefer to try and get around the problem some other way.

Try Libre Office.
A friend of mine who used to do conversions from PC to Mac told me that one has the best import filters.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

I’ve just managed to get the word document in to some sort of edit facility on my iPad which allows me to resize and move the boxes around, I’m not sure if it’s going to work because I need to create an extra page to drag the boxes onto as the document is a page shorter than it should be due to some of the boxes being on top of each other, I’ll keep trying.
Dave54: That would need to be downloaded to pc not used on iPad, is that correct?
S-E: Just tried that link but when I go to select the document that I want to convert it is showing as a greyed out icon not allowing me to select it.

Is there an option on the LAYOUT menu to change the view to normal/page break/page view etc?

I don’t have a layout menu, I’ve managed to drag and drop the boxes around using the edit facility on the iPad, it looks a bit of a mess but it at least allows me to fill in the required information.
Thanks for all help.
