i need to change my bathroom light. i removed the old one and this was the wiring.
i have a bathroom extractor fan wired in so when light goes on, so does extractor, and a pull cord light switch.

i would like some help in wiring it in. i assume i will have to remove the ceiling rose. i've seen some information online about using terminal blocks and blocks called WAGO
can someone guide me how to install the new light please?
In theory you are supposed to bring all the existing cables into the new light and connect them, but as there is never enough room I would suggest you use a "junction box" to connect the existing cables, then run a new 3 core flex to the new light.
As you mentioned wago connectors (They are a good choice) you can use a wago box to put them in and poke it into the void above the light.
You connect it exactly the same as your ceiling rose is now.
2 blacks together
The red and the brown together
The white* goes "on its own"
The earth wires all go together
You then connect a 3 core flex just the same as it is now
The blue to the two blacks
The earth with the earth's
The brown to the single white*
The other end of this new flex connects to your new light.
Obviously you turn the electricity off first
*Probably grey in colour, but it looks white.

You will have a fair few wago's left over but they are a very handy thing to have around.
Buying the individual wago's you would need would probably cost just as much if not more as they are normally sold in packs by type, you will need a couple of types.

Yw fines1, the wago site does have a lot of options, enough to confuse, the kit screwfix sell is very handy, I've used it to sort out the bathroom light with fan to Install downlights in the bathroom and keep fan running off the same circ, build a lighting circuit with 2x lamp holders and tube light for a tortoise vivarium, and a few other connectors to use in lighting circuits at the mil's. I still have connectors left over for future use. Also when the vivarium is changed out I can de construct the circuit I built and re use all the wago's on something else if needed.
hi all, thanks for your advice above. i installed 2 light fittings today. those WAGO connectors are amazing! made the process so easy, and i personally find it easy the way the wires are grouped up. i'm not giving up my day job, but for anyone thinking of taking on a task like this, it's not that difficult. for me it was all in the planning and preparation.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.
