Tiling wall with door in middle
hi , could someone please explain or send me a plan on how to set out and tile a bathroom wall that has a door thats offset ? I mean do I treat the whole wall as one and find the centre and do horizontal rows all the way across or do I mark and tile each wall individually either side of the door ? Problem is if I tile one wall floor to ceiling then the other wall floor to ceiling ill end up with cut tiles above the door thank you for any advice

If the door height doesn't match a multiple of the tile size then you'll have to have cuts somewhere. Even you set it out with a full tile over the door, there'll be cuts on the opposite wall in a different place to if you'd cut the tiles above the door.
Make up a gauge rod on a piece of batten and try out all the variations.

If you are not too sure tape out the wall and door frame edges with masking tape on a big enough floor. Lay your tiles and get the feel of the run and how it will look juggling the virtual cut tiles around until you get a pattern of how it works for you. Long winded yes, but it really helps to get it right. Use a china pencil to mark the tile rows as an aid too.
