Electric plinth heater - visual issue
Here's the scope:
Fit electric plinth heater to 500mm base unit (visual from every angle of the kitchen, which is huge)
This directly faces the back door.
Plinths are 185mm
Gap to top of plinth to bottom of base unit is a consistent 10mm.
My concern is the airflow vents either side, if I cut these out you will see the unfinished floor/vinyl/screed and base unit legs etc
I haven't a spare length of plinth either if it looks a dog dinner. Would the consistent gap top of the plinth be OK, I believe these do have a safety cut out.
I'm not the most experienced (had less than 10 years in the trade, but it's a dividing opinion most my chippy friends)
Other option is to holesaw through but again with chips / and the edge of the plinth visible (dont have any edging) and the visual aspect it's a concern
My questions..
Would the airflow be OK?
Does this look better cosmetically?
Customer never had a choice in what was fitted, it's social housing - maybe overthinking this one

Electric plinth heater - visual issue
is that a sales picture from the manufacturer or your actual situation ??
not sure exactly what your asking as the inflow side vents seem to be on the same faceplate as the output

My actual situation. I always thought the side vents on the faceplate are for air intake. As picture here https:// i.imgur . com/73MU1Vp.png

are you asking iff you can move the side vents to a less visible position ??
if so you need to find out if they allow free air to pass under the cabinet or iff they are integral and affixed to the body and separation wont be possible??
or are you after positioning the whole lot into the end panel by the door??

No. I've circled this picture to better explain.
I haven't cut out for the side vents (air inflow) as circled, because it'll show the bad detail under the cabinet. There is airflow under the unit with a consistent 10mm gap to the bottom of the unit to plinths. Would this be OK rather than cutting the cirlced.
I'm asking if the gap from plinth to base unit would allow enough airflow, because if I do cut out the circled areas you'll see the badly finished vinyl/base unit legs from every angle of the kitchen

ahh got yah
you will possibly have air flow via gaps under other units or even via the airspace around the cooker
if its the visual effect rather than airflow then perhaps black or silver behind the side grills ??

I agree with the black vents but on social housing we can't dictate what is purchased. I'll send an email to the boss to explain why if it gets snagged by the housing association. Thanks, I fitted earlier with the end result in mind finishing someone elses job (They left it under the base unit covered with plinth for a reason)
Thank you
Thank you

It's the photo, yeah it's set back - the original fitter used silicone to cloak the cuts on the translucent plinth corner caps. Not ideal really at all, but again how far do you go when finishing someone elses job.
Appreciate your feedback
