Help on spare part Valor 828 fire
We have an electric fire that unfortunately the switch has come off and been lost. It says on the sticker it’s a 828 Brooklyn or Moonlight. There is a number and after googling it came to Valor.
So I’m presuming it’s Valor 828 with a Brooklyn or Moonlight fascia on after finding the owners manual.
So we don’t need the actually fire for heating, it’s for decoration, after reading owners manual the first stitch I’d one that’s needed to put on the light, many 2 are for the heating. The first switch is completely broke off.
So can I get a replacement switch, the whole switch until for the 3, or which every way? I can’t seem to find any spare parts Googling.
Can anyone help please
Thanks

This any use?

There are others shown underneath on the page I'm seeing.
Not saying it's the right one though. You could check with Valor for the part number?

Not 100% it is a Valor as doesn’t say, it just has “model 828 - LMD engine”

You are in luck
ericmark is not wrong.
It's a standard rocker switch. (But you will have to remove the current surround, you will get a better understanding when you get a new switch)

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Does the surround of the damaged one just pull out? Looking at the eBay link seems that get whole switch with surround.Someone-Else wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 9:33 pm

Can I just get a screwdriver and pop it off to check all ok behind and maybe see if that eBay link is correct type?
Thanks

It depends on the switch, most don't, that looks like a dedicated "set" of switches, try it and see will it come out.
So long as you get a switch with the same rating you don't have to get the ebay one, as said, it looks like a normal rocker switch.

If you can get in behind there will be a couple of moulded lugs to keep the switch in place. These will need to be carefully levered to ease the old switch out. Pulling from the front may bend the thin steel fascia. Have a search on eBay for electric fire rocker switches.

Tried with a driver but as you say it’spretty tough and won’t come out. So I’m going to have to try and remove that panel to get access?dewaltdisney wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 11:37 pm If you can get in behind there will be a couple of moulded lugs to keep the switch in place. Then going to have to get an exact size to fit….quick look on Amazon and loads of rocket switches, but obviously different sizes/housings etc.

I suggest you don't waste time looking for moulded lugs, as they are on the switch, not the "surround" and since the switch is not there, neither are the lugs. I would suggest carefully cut/nibble that surround out with a pair of side cutters, or better still if you have a dremmel

So just cut the surround and/or force it out? I presume behind it, looking at rocker switch link and Amazon, it will have 2 spade connectors.Someone-Else wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 8:06 am I suggest you don't waste time looking for moulded lugs, as they are on the switch, not the "surround" and since the switch is not there, neither are the lugs. So if get the surround/whole switch out there should be 2 wires onto the back and then get a new one to fit?
Thanks

The only bit that has broken out is the rocker. The part that remains is the bulk of the switch and that will be retained by lugs. Yes, you can probably break it out but you may cause damage on the way. My thoughts are, as you do not use the heating part of the fire could you disconnect and swap the light wiring onto one of the remaining switches? I am not sure about the safety of doing that electrically? It would be best if you see if you can remove the facia to see what you are doing unless you are a gynecologist.

Yeh I don’t use the heating, so would be happy to reuse one, but as say not sure electrically if I could tape up (if they are just 2 wires with spades on behind).dewaltdisney wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 8:34 am The only bit that has broken out is the rocker. Inside the busted rocker it looks like it’s all missing, so there must be spades on back. I’d presume that it should pop out, have 2 spades and abs easily replaced, but haven’t forced too much as don’t want to snap it etc. it’s unplugged at moment.
Not sure if I can access the back yet will have to have a look. Such a mess on for a simple switch!!
Thanks

I suspect the broken bit is laying inside somewhere then. These fires are usually screwed together with sheet metal components. You need to pull the fire out and have a look at the back to suss out how to open it up.

The broken bit I mean if I look inside what’s left, see pic, just looks empty. I maybe remember a switch years ago that I kept, but now gone missing.
I’m hoping if I could get the surround bit out, it would pop out then I’d see attached to the surround 2 spades and then just need a whole replacement.
I can only find a owners manual though not a repair manual to confirm with a parts list ideally as well.
