Bangood Parallel Guides

Post by Argyll »

I watched a YouTube video from The London Craftsman about Bangoods Parallel Guides and decided to buy them. I always wanted a set but Woodpeckers are around £450 😱. He raved on about the great quality and first impressions they look amazing. Only cost me £82 and arrived without any tariffs.

I've still to calibrate them but I will do that through the week when the weather is better.

They didn't come with any instructions whatsoever 😲 So thank God for Ryan at the London craftsman video.

i watched the whole video and still dont know exactly what they do thats so amazing ???
now i suspect somthing hooks over the boards at the far end i assume the flipover bits and gives you accurate positioning from the far edge lining the track up accurately :dunno:
unless you are doing dozens the same the set up time and cost would seem excessive over a pencil marked on your tape replicated twice for each cut without the need to measure just copy :dunno:

They make repetitive cuts with your track saw. Lining up your track saw with each individual cut might not always give you the exact same cut every time. Maybe out by 0.5mm but that would annoy me. Plus there are rods you can add on that allows making repetitive thin cuts.

Fin they're really good. £82 well invested.

yes within 0.5mm is average i go for
i fully agree about setting up thats why i have 8 battery routers set up with router cutters for specific tasks :huray:
i have also been known to make a jig up for specific tasks taking an hour to make and saving 10 mins but giving 100% accuracy :thumbright:
yes i get the accuracy thing it more a "at what price "question :thumbright:

If you consider this as a jig that you can use on all occasions and will never have to make another one. No more wood to use up and the price of sheet goods is through the roof atm as you know. Plus it gives me that pinpoint accuracy.

yes i fully agree
i suppose the point i was rather badly trying to make was it was a system that i was unaware off and his video although brilliant and slightly waffley didnt actually show its purpose although reference to size'accuracy'same sort off told me :thumbright:
now i would pay the £85 price if i had dozens the same as the cost is the convenience off planning the next stage or using all your brain power somewhere else in auto pilot mode
hence the comments about stupidly insane numbers off routers where as a maximum perhaps 2 battery and one mains would be sensible

the same cover was 100mm too low
