We were painting our dining room wall and the existing paint kept peeling off onto the roller. It looks like the previous owners painted straight onto fresh plaster and that's why it was peeling? Anyways, we scraped off as much loose paint as possible which left us with a patch about the size of a watermelon!! We sealed this with a sealant paint. All good so far except when we have painted over the patch you can see the outline so it's not level with the rest of the wall!! What do we do as it looks messy

Peeling paint left a messy patch
Use a filler to level. Easy fill
Or sand to level the paint. Then paint again

Certainly not easy fill, it is too coarse and will fall out. Use a fine surface filler and feather out the edges - prime with watered down emulsion then paint the wall again as normal.

And if I may state the obvious, you will need to paint the whole wall, not just the affected area.
