Whilst LED lighting can save some money it's not a big deal or significant for anyone in the scheme of things. Besides LED being almost the only bulb you can get these days the cost of them takes a while to offset their use anyway.
Same (but more so) can be applied to PIR versions - can't figure out the exact timescale but it's got to be in 'years'???
Attending to your heat loss is the key, followed by 24/7 items like fridges/freezers (which is where we 'fail') but it's factored into the cost of sales anyway so...meh.
It's going to get worse though. Wait until the Russia thing really kicks off (no gas or oil) and prices shoot up to $200/barrel and more.
Something not realiy discussed is the level of 'borrowing' electricity these days. As bad as the situation might have been I bet there's a whole load more going on since the price rise! Kinda wish I lived in a city......

I highly rate octopus energy, the best supplier I’ve ever had by a country mile.stevei wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 9:54 am Getting gen 2 smart meters fitted on Friday this week. We're with Octopus energy after the demise of Avro. They seem to have good customer relations and the online account system is good. You can change the DD amount and payment date which is a first for me. Previous suppliers had control of that.

Well, as the executor for my brothers affairs, I’ve had the misfortune to deal with octopus - their customer service for bereavement was shocking and the apology insultingLondon mike 61 wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 1:58 pm

They lost contact with the smart meters, and when they reconnected, I didn’t have any access to the historic data
Not impressed

15 March to 15 April = 31 days for which I was billed 86kWh electricity, I cook with but have gas CH + DHW. Single guy in 3 bed semi.
Ooo just remembered, I was out of the house 15 to 27 March with only security lights and CCTV on during evening until 6am for that period, so when I am in residence it works out about 4kWh/day 27March to 15April.
Similar to stevie but his for 2 sharing and BA.

yes indeed also you cant turn them off and on like a normal bulb as they reset with 3 flashes when you turn them on again then they go out and take 2 or three seconds to detect againaeromech3 wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 4:10 pmI had tried these, thought I was clever until I could not switch the landing one on to look into the airing cupboard during the daybig-all wrote: ↑Wed May 04, 2022 9:07 am i use 4.5-4.6kw per day i use pir bulbs from ebay in areas i pass through they use between 0.5-1w off and 6-8w for the 20 or so seconds they stay on they will stay on longer if your there but need movement to stop switching off so iff a light turning off occasionally bothers you the dont buy them

As promised, usage over the last 31 days used 425 Kwh,
Electric range cooker gets a fair amount of use, 1 x American style fridge/freezer 1 x Normal fridge/freezer, pond pump, cctv, alarm system and 2 Dect phones are on 24/7 if that helps at all.
