Splitting chromecast audio

Hi,

Has anyone managed to split there audio from there chromecast and send it to there Google home mini?

Have tried adding the Google home mini as a Bluetooth speaker as well as putting both the chromecast and home mini into a speaker group.

Done quite a bit of research and some say yes, others say no. From what I've tried I can't get the audio through the Google home mini.

Split the audio out of the HDMI ?, The mini is mono only so it mixes left and right
