S15 284mm light fitting.

Post by neilmol2009 »

Hi, I have a four bathroom lights that take S15 284mm light bulbs but the fittings inside have broken off, they have become brittle and the plastic has snapped inside. Does anyone know where I can buy some more new fitting to install inside, they can be no longer than 310mm long. Everyone I have seen are longer and the wire is at the top, I have even been looking at s15 lights that are 221mm bulbs but these fittings are still longer than 310mm. If anyone knows where I can buy these or knows of another option to put different fittings inside that would be great. Thank you [

Have you considered removing all of its "guts" and installing a small driver and LED tape, such as the picture below?

Above are my opinions Below is my signature.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Firstly, replace the whole fitting with a modern version.

Secondly, assuming you're intent on retaining the "look" so want something to fit inside, look at kitchen undercabinet lamps, for instance this one:

(download the spec. sheet for dimensions)

There are many avaiilable, just ensure that the length overall includes any connector plug as this can add 60mm.
