hi, i have a socket in my kitchen which is not working, for the oven.
it used to work with a crackling sound when switched on and then the sound would stop and the oven would stay on but now it does not stay on.
now it will either come on with a crackling sound and go off as soon as the crackling stops or it will not make a crackling sound at all and the oven does not come on.
i removed the switch from the wall to see if there were any loose wires or burnt wire but everything looked fine to me.
could it be that the switch itself is faulty and simply changing it would make it work?
to clarify i have no electricial knowledge and only going by what i've found on Google.

Kitchen Switch for oven not working, crackling sound
i have had similar issue and replacing the fused spur switch , and then it all worked - but i did test the switch with a multimeter to confirm.could it be that the switch itself is faulty and simply changing it would make it work?

Sadly a lot of parts rated to 13A are simply not fit for purpose when used with fixed loads such as ovens.
Best you replace the socket AND the plug
