Hi,
I'm attempting to re-paint over some doors from a house we've just bought.
The previous owners had painted over gloss numerous times and its starting to show.
On a previous door, I tried sanding to take the shine off before painting, but the egg shell that I tried didn't seem to want to stick.
On these new doors I want to use silk.
I've attached pictures of the various stages the doors are in
I've attempted a few things heat gun, hand sanding and electric sanding.
I've tried 40 grit hand sanding, just not sure its taking enough sheen off.
I've tried 220 grit with an electric sander, I thought this would have done more than it did and did not feel effective.
My question is, how do I know if I have sanded it enough?
I'm worried that I will get the results I got before, were the paint did not apply correctly.
Any advice would be appreciated
