Hi everyone,
We noticed a patch of damp last year and didn’t get round to doing anything. Eventually got someone to clean roof gutters 2 months ago. We thought would have solved issue but yesterday the vertical patch looked darker and felt wet despite having no rain for a week or 2 now (unless I’ve only just properly noticed it).
we can’t ignore this anymore and needed some thoughts. Heard you can wrongly get diagnosed with rising damp and from the outside with the mould looks like it’s just the living room and not a bedroom issue.
The pipe corresponds to the interior where the damp is. It’s a downwards drain pipe which was there when bought the property ten years ago not changed.
Thoughts/advice welcome.
Thanks!

Rising or penetrating damp! Help! Wet but not rained
Only a guess, but its improbable the downpipe leaks / is split, but have you checked the pipe to hopper connection? My neighbour and myself had the same problem (Not same pipes) over time the weight of the down pipe pulled it down from the hopper just enough to let water out when it rained. (His was worse than mine) very easy to solve.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

I would check for a blockage. It looks like water spilling out the hopper. Easily sorted

Could easily be hopper blocked, and water then coming down the wall and in though damaged pointing
Or water issue in loft getting into cavity then through pointing/mortar
