I have a gap between the register/closure plate and flue pipe (please see pics). I'm worried that this is a source of heat loss from the fireplace and flat. The stove is a wood-burning one and Snug 5 Eco.

Can anyone confirm if fire cement or heat-resistant silicone is best for sealing this?

I'm planning to use ******** heat-resistant sealant or ******** fire cement. Would like to know which one is better.

Thank you.

Regards,

Traditional fire cement tends to crack out when used on metal to metal surfaces, because they expand and contract.
So flexible sealant would be better.

FJC compound might be a good solution.
Depends on how hot the flue pipe will get, FJC max temp 250C

You might need something else if it exceeds that.
