I think that times are changing in that as the falling numbers of scheduled TV viewers depart to streaming there are no mass views to elevate people on screen to celebrity status, a myth in itself. The whole thing is perpetuated by magazines and newspapers that print paps photos of those perceived to be a celebrity. As some YouTube channels are getting more views than TV shows it is the content that appeals to the people who follow the individual YouTube streams and the presenter gets elevated in popularity by that but to a dedicated audience linked to their channel. The Ant and Dec period is in decline as many people have the opportunity to arrange their own entertainment now in a way that suits them and their preferences. I am sure that there will still be those who slavishly follow some goon who is of no relevance to their existence and never will be as like any sort of fan they are hooked on 'belonging' to something that has no care or interest for them other than getting money.
