Loft ladder step lifting - how to lock it in?

Post by thecount »

Fitted this loft hatch ladder, but sometimes when I stand on it, it lifts back on itself and is a bit dangerous. I purchased some cabin hoot gate-type hook locks but not sure that is going to solve it.

Any better ideas?

A dumb question but is the bottom set the wrong way around? I would reverse the hinge to compress under pressure.

It defies logic. Try unbolting the mid hinge and turning it around and see if that sorts it.

that's strange why you think that, unless I have something wrong.

It looks identical in terms of the hinges as per the product =

Yes, I have been thinking about it and the hinge is that way for the fold back. I will have another think

thanks. I just don't think the cabin hook gate-type hook lock will work when I look at it.

Looking at it on my full screen I agree that the vertical stays are missing from your steps. These drop links will hold the top section from hinging back as you climb.
