Media wall

Ok so I have decided to bits the bullet and get round to building a media wall. I'm fairly competent when working with wood, however have never really designed anything like this before.
What I'm really interested in finding out is... is there any common mistakes that people make? Those that have built one, would you of changed anything and just general tips.
