New LED not behaving?

Post by trooper »

Don't get upset. Simply looking at a further reply from stevei, it was just to purchase a better/reliable LED with a built in PIR. As a re-cap, the other lights that are linked via stand alone passives (GJDs) have nothing to do with the light that I was hoping to link a more reliable stand alone passive to. I've been advised that I can't link a GJD (best on the market) to the existing light, this from my alarm installer who said, quote, "The GJD sensors are low voltage (12v DC) connected to the mains lighting via 240v" AC relay. Therefore, you would need both 12vdc/240v ac connection from the GJD relay to the lighting/Sensor positions. Unquote, I should have asked him sooner, rather than upset anyone.
Hope that clarifies things.

New LED not behaving?

The Lutec lights I fitted last year are the ones with PIR. I suggested the light without as I thought you were going to follow the advice to fit that type operated by a separate PIR. At home I have three outside lights operated by two PIRs: these lights https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-outdoor- ... 00lm/947pp. I don't like flood lights as they tend to annoy the neighbours.

New LED not behaving?

Okay one & all. I contacted the manufacturers of the GJD & Electricals/Security/Lighting etc explaining what I wanted to do. Rather than send me an email, a very knowledgeable chap rang me & said the explanation of how to do, what I'd hoped to do, was fairly complicated & so he'd talk me through it. (You don't often get that sort of response) After confirming the installation we have for all the lights controlled by GJDs by me saying what I could see on my controller set-up was confirmed as their type of installation, I would have had to run cable from the light in question to the control panel, then make connections that sounded er! complicated, plus the lamp & stand alone GJD, as with the other PIRs, which are in the brickwork, would need to be run from the light to the control panel from outside the house, not a good idea. So anyway, that's that. I'll now probably purchase a light/passive similar to the type stevei settled for.
