Hi, Looking for some info for adding an additional/ more conveniently located remote start stop switch for my dust extractor.
The extractor is situated 10m away from my planer machine and want to be able to start and stop this from another switch close to the machine being used.
The extractor is a single phase 240v with a 2.25kw motor and the DOL is also rated 2.25kw.
I know what the wiring configiration ls to do this but can anyone tell me the correct wire size I require for this?
Thanks.

The same or bigger as what it already has. I would be more concerned about the new buttons, are they suitably rated?
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.
Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

D.O.L remote switch
Just to make myself clear, I am intending wiring a start stop switch with the new stop button wired in series to the stop on the dol and the new start button wired in parallel to the start on the dol starter.
My understanding of this is that the remote switch is only carrying a very small current to hold the contacts closed in the dol starter therefore a small size cable could be used for this like perhaps 1mm?
Any experts out there that can shed a Ray of light on this for me please?

You say DOL which means there does not need to be a contactor the push button may take whole load. With single phase there is often some sort of relay to get the device to rotate, capacitors, centrifugal switches etc. But it could be a AC/DC motor not needing it.
As to switch rating often it needs to be higher than motor rating to take the in rush.
A 3 horse power motor is quite large as single phase goes, often at that size we will use three phase, maybe supplied from an inverter with soft start, and although we did use 415 or 240 volt we now use 400 or 230 volt, so assume it is old kit, maybe you can give more info, pictures are always good.
