Good PIR light brand

Need to get two led pir lights for a yard. Last set I put in failed after a strong storm. They were IP44.

Looking now to get a stronger IP rating setup. Any recommendations or where can I get any online?

Is it better to separate everything out - I.e. have a separate pir and just buy light units?

It's your choice. I always prefer separates, that way you only have to change one thing when it fails. Brand? I have given up, there were some reasonable ones, but for me the quality has gone down hill.

Unless you can find a good brand of PIR that isn't made in china then they are all pretty much of a muchness, as per S-E always buy a seperate Pir as if one component fails then you only have to replace that part.

If you want something tougher, definitely aim for a higher IP rating like IP65 or IP66. Those babies can handle the elements like champs! Check out Amazon or Home Depot.

Only IP65 - you won’t get a higher IP rating unless you want to put it in water

That's what I thought. Can't seem to find a higher rating. I'll just have to assume that it was a poor set of lights I initially put up.

Radar is actually microwave.
As for which is better, it depends what you want to achieve. For example, you could mount a pir looking into your garden but have a public footpath on the other side of a fence, no problem. If it was a microwave, it would see through the fence and activate every time someone walked past.
