Engine Cleaning

Post by Steve161 »

I have a 2016 Citreon C4 diesel with an oil leak. Iv'e been to 2 garages and both have said the oil is all up the back of the engine and underneath and has to be cleaned so the leak can be found.
I live in Grimsby UK and nead some one near by to do the cleaning.
Valleting services seam to only do the engine bay from above.
Any advice on locating such a service please.

Google for "engine steam cleaner" (One near me came up on facebook)

TBH I would say the places you tried do not want the job. (Finding your engine oil leak)

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

There is an element of truth in that, you need to be able to trace the leak which would be nigh on impossible with oil everywhere. Gunk engine cleaner is good spray on and work with a brush, hose off. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BePu2unbCnM

Invariably an oil leak at a high level is a rocker box cover gasket, it might be a turbo oil feed leak and these are worth a look.

Many garages will have a steam cleaner also agricultural dealers ie sellers of tractors etc, ask nicely they may just give it a quick blast for you, in exchange for a bob or two.

Most hand car wash places will do it, they spray it with a degreaser and jetwash it off.
