What would be the best way to redo this part of the wall. It is back to no plaster in some parts.

Any help appreciated

Painting water damaged wall

When completely dry, sand it down and remove any loose bits. Fill where needed with a good quality filler like Toupret. I always use a powder filler rather than premixed. When that dries, sand again and refill where neccessary. When you are happy with the surface, paint with Zinser Bullseye 123 then whatever paint you want to finish.

As its previously had damp .....but is now dry , how about applying some alkali resisting primer to the area , let it dry for a afternoon....before doing the filling ? Just to stop any chance of a reaction between any plaster and top coat paint ?

You would maybe want what the trade call a stopper ....a harder, deeper filler first ....then a sandable lighter filler .....the gyproc ....in a few layers on top
