Pairing two bluetooth adaptors

Post by stevei »

I need to connect audio from the headphone socket on a tv to a mixer desk which then feeds audio to an amp and p.a. system. Using a long cable is not an option so I thought of bluetooth adaptors. Is it possible to pair two adaptors, the same make which can transmit and receive?

I know FA about this but do they not all operate on different frequencies in the same band?

I am not quite sure either, BUT why not look for a device that does what you want and see what it can actually do. (or not) I did have a quick look and it seems such a single item does not exist (Unless you have bucket load of money) but what I did wonder was, you may need two units one to transmit, the other to receive.

I would mention I have an amp that has a Bluetooth receiver built in

It works very well, I use to to connect to my mp3 player, the only down side is, it seems to have a short range (15 feet?) and if anyone walks intween it and the MP3 player, it stops playing (But doesn't drop out) so when you are out of the way, it continues to play.

:idea1: Does it have to be Bluetooth? You can get a wide variety of audio transmitter and receiver set-ups mostly used in video (Wireless microphone Tx and Rx) They have a better range, and I will guess be more suitable than Bluetooth.

Why is cable not an option? it is cheaper and more reliable.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Yes, Bluetooth uses 79 different radio frequencies in a small band around 2.4 GHz. (Same frequncy as wi-fi, but much lower power)

It's for use in a large building that has to accomodate the installed hearing induction loop system. I can't move the mixer etc and getting a cable to the tv would not be easy. I only need the audio feed to the mixer which then feeds to the amp and the induction amp. That's why I thought of bluetooth. I have ordered two transmitter/receiver adaptors and have posted the same question to the manufacturer. I'm awaiting a response from them.

But not impossible? and you would only need to do it once.

Pairing two bluetooth adaptors

Post by stevei »

Two 5.2 bluetooth adaptors capable of transmitting and receiving delivered this evening. Paired to each other with one transmitting and one receiving. They are easily switched between the two. Connected to the headphone socket on the TV and an input chanel on the mixer and work very well with no loss of signal up to 15 metres away. No loss of sync between the picture and sound so all good. Yes, your'e right SE, cable would not be impossible. I had a look and found some ready made up with 3.5mm jack plug at each end up to 25 metres long. If the bluetooth gives me any trouble I will fit the cable as a standby.
