Electric BBQ to Charcoal use
Had my Weber electric bbq for some years and not made full use of it with the ever increasing energy costs and lacking of flavours.
Anyone know or have done, converting one to for Charcoal use or if it can be done.

Depends which one you have (You don't say) But I would save the hassle (and burning the element) flog it and buy a proper one Click me
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.
Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

Weber Electric about 10 yrs old, as posted. I would remove the working element.Someone-Else wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 8:20 pm Depends which one you have (You don't say) But I would save the hassle (and burning the element) flog it and buy a proper one Click me
And don't rate Amazon BBQ as proper one.

You need air flow for the charcoal to burn hot. Drill extra holes in the pan if necessary.

Sounds like a plan ............to the tip.
I did that, not doing it again. Rain got in, even though it was covered and yes, the rain went through the holes........making them bigger and bigger (rusted away)
