I can't always get a good wall fixing when tapping in cable clips.
So, I often drill and plug my walls.
But, with the premature collapse regs, is it OK to plug the wall with wooden dowels and tap metal clips into them?
(I'm mainly talking twin and CPC cable here - round flex can be fitted with metal P clips and Wall-Dog anchor screws for example).
If wooden dowels are not acceptable what is the alternative?

18th Edition Cable Clips - With Wooden Dowels?
The aim is wiring should not fall in escape routes, it seems this refers to official escape routes, so all the other rules also apply, for example no carpet. There has been debate after debate on this subject, the result is no one is sure what is required, however the reason we know is so rescuers are not trapped due to wires falling on them, so there is little problem with a normal house, what they are looking at is multi-occupancy where there may be people trapped.
