How to Install a Toilet? Need Help!
Hey everyone, I’m looking for advice on how to install a toilet properly. I have a new toilet, a wax ring, and some basic tools, but I want to make sure I do it right.
What are the key steps I should follow? Should I use a wax ring or a rubber seal? Also, any tips to prevent leaks or common mistakes to watch out for?
I’d appreciate any guidance or personal experiences. Thanks in advance!

We need a few more details and pictures of your new WC. Are you talking about the donut seal between the cistern and pan? There are a few considerations about fill valves and flush mechanisms to ease replacement in the future when necessary. See photo guide video viewtopic.php?t=254

Although the OP has been banned, I should point out that he is American or Canadian, since they use a wax ring, we in the UK don't.
Unlike here in the UK where the soil pipe can enter through a wall, over there, they usually have a 3 inch pipe coming up from the floor (So the toilets are always back exit) This pipe sits just under the finished floor level, and they add an "adaptor" that they screw to the actual floor. This adaptor has some eye slots (Big at one end smaller at the other) in two of these slots goes a bolt into each. The pan then goes over these upward pointing bolts and nuts are put on and tightened to keep the pan secure.
Sounds good but as yet there is no seal between the pan and the pipe "Tada" enter the wax ring. It's about 5cm tall and is......ring shape. It is put down on the afore mentioned adaptor before the pan is put on, and gets slightly compressed as the pan is tightened, and yes, its sole purpose is to make a water/pee/turd proof seal.
When ever they "pull a toilet" they will (should) change the wax ring to be sure of no leaks.
I have never seen them use/mention a donut washer between the cistern and pan. (They call the cistern a toilet tank)

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.
