Hoodies are older than you think. My own surname is derived from capes with hoods dating back to the Scottish Clans way back around the 10th Century.

But I get DWD's point but I think it's based on demographics. For example some kid up here wearing his hood up I wouldn't think twice but a young kid in London walking around with his hood up I'd automatically stay well clear thinking he's up to no good.

All I can say is that all the local posts I see on facebook where there are videos/pics of anti-social behavior/theft or attempted theft and vandalism, the miscreants are always wearing "hoodies".

what you said about forum members being in touch with others.... i used to regularly go on a car forum long ago. i ended up being facebook mates with a canny few members. that ws in the days of facebooks infancy i guess. still quite regularly comment on photos or whatever that they may post. or for example one is like a mad scientist. he comes up with crazy inventions. seems a really clever bloke.

another lad ive ended up being facebook mates with his parents and sister. never met any of em and they live near the south coast i think....

never go on that forum anymore although i know it does exist still.

Me neither. All is does is make you look like a wally, or a ne'er-do-well. I have a neighbour in his 30s who wears a baseball cap... backwards... all the time, even when he's indoors. He looks like a wally too.

Some might say that people shouldn't judge you based on your appearance, but they do. First impressions count. There's an old saying "People look at you on the outside while God looks at you on the inside" and the "people" bit is very true.

It's the same with tradesmen's vans. I wash mine outside and clean the inside at least every month, more often if it needs it because, like clothing, the first thing potential customers see is your vehicle. Many years ago I went to do a quote and, as I was leaving, the elderly chap asked asked if he could look in the back of my van. I said I didn't mind at all so he did. He said that he was very happy to see that I kept my van clean and tidy, especially on the inside, as it made him confident that I would do the same to his house when I was working in it. The quote was for just one room but I got the job and over the next few years I ended up decorating every room in his five-bedroom house and worked for several of his neighbours after he recommended me to them.

You'd have been f*ck if he asked to look at the back of your boxers!
