Hi Mark,
I can't answer that question as I cannot see where the wires are coming from or going to.
The cable that comes from the consumer unit to the switch should be in the terminals marked either In-Feed or supply
The cable that goes from the switch to the shower unit will either be marked Out or Load.
Can you confirm where the wires go before swapping anything as it could just be a case that the neon indicator is wired into the incorrect terminals.

As UHM says make sure the supply from your DB goes to the feed side of the switch and the other to your shower on the load side. DO not cross them over or swap one without the other. both cores from each cable need to be in the right side of the switch .

If it isnt broke dont bloody touch it until it bloody well is and if it is broke then make drawing of the connections before you remove the broken one and replace with a new one LoL

Thanks to Tim, Sparky and UHM,
Will swap the Live wires over and then change the N wires over.
I have two sets of twin and earth coming down from the attic.
Because of the amount of burnt cable and the amount of cutting and stripping back I had to do, I realised after a bit that I couldn't remember which Red wire was the L In or L out and likewise, I couldn't decide which black wire was the N in or N out.
I will switch live wires as well as switch N wires.
Thanks again.

you need to know which ones are the feed and which ones are the load, you might have the neutrals in the right terminals but the lives in the wrong terminals. Its no good just guessing. Buy yourself a multimeter and verify which cable is which , or get the significant other to watch the cables downstairs while you pull them from above.

the neutral and live from the same cable must both be in the same side of the switch
