I thought I would add to this thread now that I have a diamond blade for this machine.

As well as cutting masonry it will also cut reinforced concrete such as pre-stressed concrete lintels and also concrete fence posts.


I have to say that I use these machines all the time now when I am making things with wood or metal

cheers chez and razor(for showing chez) will pick one of them up as well when i get the saw as seams to handle the dust well

How well does the diamond hold up on the steel parts? High speed diamond and steel can be a bad combo.

Fine, there was no visible damage to either of the two blades.

I know that the maximum recommended cutting thickness of steel using the Rage 3 S is 6mm, but sometimes you just have to see what it will cut!



Instead of using the Wickes vacuum, I attached a metal ash cleaner/vacuum to the machine to take away some of the swarf.

Just a quickie, but is the sliding mechanism on yours rougher than I feel after a night on the town?

I got a Rage3 from them on their ebay store. £73 for a 10" sliding compound seemed enough to take a chance. Its wonky all to hell and I need to set it up properly, but first off the sliding mechanism seems quite rough. Not having used another I don't know if its normal, but it doesn't seem like it.

The sliding action on mine is very smooth. Maybe a clean and a bit of lube is needed?

As Paul says. A good clean might fix it, although there is s possibility that the linear bearings are damaged. The slide action should be very smooth.
