I would not do it either so maybe I would not recommend it for you. If I felt really confident I might try cutting a section out of the middle of the cupboard and then secure together using dowels/metal plates but I would have to be having a very good day!
I think the first question is whether a different size height cupboard could work (check the design), if it could then I would bite the bullet and buy a smaller height cupboard and door. Our boiler cupboard is deeper than the others but we are lucky that it can be the same height. You would have to make sure that there was plenty of access around the boiler maybe speak to your boiler person?

Kitchen fitting is just a giant jigsaw puzzle without instructions!!!
Do the sockets have to be there!!

I have been repositioning the height of the boiler housing.
If I bring it down to just above the sockets(mm's above) I'm left with a gap of approx 620mm for the surrounding wall units.
Is this acceptable?

Whats important is the measurement above and to the sides of the cooker.
Can I assume you'll need to lean over the cooker to reach/use the sockets

No, as I have sockets on either side of where the cooker will go.
I have sockets on all three walls of the kitchen.

Must be the drawing then because the ones on the left look close, what have you got a 300mm gap between the range and the unit ?

Yeh your right mate. The cooker switch socket is terribly close to the cooker. That might have to get moved.
The normal power socket and boiler spur are ok.
I don't even need the cooker switch socket as I will be having a all gas cooker.
But we decided to keep in the cooker wire from mains just incase we sell the house in future etc.
