Oh you can work it out with calculus; I have done so but I'm not going to repeat the exercise 'cos I don't want to wear my brain out.
If you do so, you will find the assumption about the sphere diameter being immaterial to be formally correct.

Our man drew the broken match and was thrown out.

The Deadly Party
Everyone at the party was allowed 3 glasses of punch. One of the party goers was very thirsty and as soon as he arrived had his 3 gasses. Everyone else at the party who drank the punch subsequently died of poisoning.
Why did the man not die?
