Has anybody used the Aldi jigsaw.???

Was going to buy my father in law a Green bosch one. Then I seen the Aldi one.

I can only find one video on you tube which just shows you a guy cutting a piece of wood. Pointless video to be honest. No review at all.

I've just purchased the jig saw today.

Haven't used it too much yet but initial impressions are good.

Doesn't come with a box but thats no biggie...especially as it fits into my old black and decker jig saw case
It's a bit fiddly to insert the blade
Loving the LED guide light
Build quality seems strong and robust.

I'll be doing some work with it at the weekend so will be able to answer better later

That's good that the build quality seems decent. I remember buying a budget alligator saw 10 years ago and it was like holding a fischer price toy. You could see through the joints in the moulded plastic.

That gas iron looks ok for the money.

I bought a similar generator to the Aldi one many years ago. It sat unused for a couple of years but has since been used on at least four separate occasions to save the contents of our chest freezer after power cuts that lasted four days (each). It also gave us house lighting which is far, far better than candles!

If you can get hold of one it's a great standby device.

I was thinking of one of those generators KE, I wondered if the output would be enough to run the gas heating and fridges in a power cut? We had a tree fall down locally during the storm that took out the power lines for 18 hours.

I only used it to power our chest freezer independently of anything else as it's in an outside 'shed' - the genny did it without problems whatsoever and running it for an hour (or long enough for the 'green' light to come back on - indicating the freezer was back to its optimum coldness) proved to be perfectly ok.

I would guess that gas heating would only add a hundred watts or so (?) to the load of the freezer (300W) so running them together should be ok. Although they state the genny is a 650W version I'd be wary of loading it past 500W total as the 'kick-in' of the freezer can, theoretically, stall the genny. Since both the freezer and heating are 'random' events though I doubt you'd come across this situation very often.

Compared to having NO power though even a small standby set like the one offered can get you out of a sticky situation - and it tucks away discretely when not being used!

How long does it run for on a full tank ???

At 3/4 load (theoretically 500W for my particular model) it runs for 5 hours on a full tank (4.5 litres).

We use several, namely Makita & DeWalt, but for cleaning rust off metal components with a bevel brush, they are both probably a bit over-kill.

I might see if we can get a couple. Even with the one's we have, we seem to be continually changing their 'usage' and, Sod's Law, the bevel brush (requiring less power) is invariably on the (heavier) DeWalt.

I'm going to buy the SDS rotary drill & use it to core some boiler flues...........

those work zone trestles are the same as the draper ones i bought form toolstation for £26 each. they seem ok for the money like i must admit. though they dont fold completely flat unfortunately.

Those supports at 18 quid don't look bad - I don't often get to Aldi's, but me and our lass are about to tackle Lidl's Champagne. We're council house posh

I'm going to get the steel saw horse for £18 - its one of those things where poor quality isn't such an issue.
I'm not going to be buying any more Aldi power tools though - I'd rather pay 3 times the price for something 5 times better. I have their router - its okay, but I'm ashamed of it!
