I'll leave it with you then. I'm off to bed.

However you do it, you need to do a Hijack This log, so get the setup file onto that PC somehow.

This is fun, I managed to get the non beta version to load onto the computer.
Still can't get it to recognise the internet connection.

Nothing dodgy looking there, but quite a few entries running at startup that can be removed. Might help speed things up a bit.

First and most important thing. Move Hijack This to C: drive. Create a folder there called HT and put it there.

Close all open windows and select Run system scan only.

Put a check mark next to all of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;<local>

Close open Windows apart from Hijack This and click Fix Checked[/url]

You need the latest version of Avg from here

If you can get him online, download and run a scan with Hitman Pro

It needs to be run while connected so it can upload anything suspect to its servers and check it.

If it finds anything, leave it with the recommended action and click Next.

When it asks to register, select the Trial version and click Next.

See how it's running after that little lot.

Thanks Richie, done all that, and managed to trick the computer onto my home network  so online at the moment and swapping avg for avast.

Will do the other bits in a while, (I hope)

Avast is installed and running a scan.

Will load Firefox and Firebird when its finished, then I can do the next stage. :thumbright:

Couldn't install hitmanpro as it's 64bit. this thing is running on 32bit.

It would seem as though we have cracked it now, the speed times are more than double what I was getting, but that may just be my connection, we shall see when I take it back in the mornng.

That link to Hitman Pro gives an additional link to the 64-bit version, not just that oneif y.

Get it from here

I'd really recommend using it if you can.

I have to go back Richie so will try that again.

Got everything up and running at twice the speed of the M25 in a rush hour, but couldn't get thunderbird to work ::b

Even managed to get rid of TalkTalk :thumbright: God how that annoys me, talk about in your face  bit like Yahoo .co.uk only worse.

Seems I cleaned all the virus's off including the ones in system restore, and have set a new restore point, after deleting all the old ones.

Swapped AVG for Avast, the same as I did on my computer.
Installed CCleaner, and Mbam.

Now running at 6+mbs, up from 3-mbs, 0.6+ up from 0.27mbs. and the ping is halved.

Glad it seems better.

A slow computer doesn't usually affect speedtests. See how it is connected back at your mate's house.

Sorry Richie, I didn't make that very clear. It is back at my mates house and considerably faster, although he tells me it was slow today ::b

What's slow? The computer itself or loading web pages?

Who is the aISP?

Who is the aISP?
I really don't think it's too bad now to be honest Richie, takes about 4-5mins to fully load, and I'm sure most of that is Skype.

The programs and pages seem to be just as quick as mine, I tried it on UHM and for sure there was no waiting for each page.

Damned if I can remember the ISP, I thought I posted it somewhere, and Davem answered.

Plusnet, while I think of it. :thumbright:

Never had many problems with people on Plusnet.

Glad it seems better anyway.

There's no doubt it's much faster now.

Going round Saturday morning to try and get Thunderbird to work, fortunately I think I know what I forgot. e.g. type yahoo.co.uk after the pop3.
