Funny thing with LED bulbs and their warranties.....

The in-laws purchased some chandeliers (2) that required some 15 of those candle-flame shaped bulbs and they were offered 3W LED 'filament' bulbs at £12.99 each - with a 2 year warranty on them.

They found that four of them failed within a couple of days but weren't too concerned as the warranty was perfectly valid and they were replaced without question. I had a look at the bulbs before they took them back for exchange and found them to be bog-standard stuff you can purchase direct from China (Alibaba website) for £3.75 each (post paid, no import duty, 10-15 days delivery).

No bl00dy wonder the retailers offer warranties and 'free' replacements when they are creaming off nearly a tenner in profit from EACH BULB

30 bulbs at £12.99 = £389.70

Direct from China = £112.50

(you'd have to make three separate orders to avoid import duty though).

This site might be known here, I offer no opinion if it's accurate.
I'm sure any mistakes in it will be pointed out with glee.

Well, I have to say that ledhut have been very good with my failed leds. I posted them off 2 days ago and they have already dispatched me replacements and refunded me the postage.

A week or two ago, I read on facebook that the market of LED light bulbs has been flooded with cheaper chinese imports, that are waaay of standards. I've only discussed this with a friend of mine, that supplies me and he confirmed of something like that happening.. Be really careful
