Nissan Almera Service Warning

I have a 2005 Nissan Almera and when I turn on the ignition a warning sign comes up on the screen stating that a service is due, does anyone know how I can remove this warning.

If it's anything like the old Rover 800's, you just remove the alternater fuse for 10 / 20 seconds.
Not 100% certain if Nissan will be the same?

look at your manual it may tell you but some cars need a computer plugging into the obdII port to reset (can be done by shorting 2 points on the obdII port too).
on citreons and others you hold the milegae reset button and switch on ign.... usually a simple sequence.... try google if all else fails.

You can also buy a ODBI II box for about £25 and read/reset all the codes - very handy if you either do your own servicing or want to make sure the garage isn't telling porkies about a failure.
Case in point - Mate has a Saab convertible and roof has failed - quoted £1300 to repair - Hydraulic lifters failed, etc.
Report from ODBI said switch had failed - got new switch fitted.... £125

Have a look on the Almera owners club website, I belong to the Volvo Owners club and there is good advice on these sites.

Hello,
Thanks for the replies. I managed to find the answer on another site and the warning notice has now been removed.
I am interested in the ODB1 11 box, sounds a useful bit of kit, where would you be able to purchase one of these.

You can buy these for less then a garage will charge to plug one it and tell you the codes - use your own, plus the last link inthis post and you can tell the garage what is wrong
Various suppliers - here is an example ....

and a bit of general info to help decode what it tells you ....
OBD-II Trouble Codes
If your car is later then about 2002(ish) then by law, it has to have an OBD-II / CAN port. Many cars before that date have them also.

Thanks for the info. I have a 2005 Almera so it should work on mine. I am only a very amateur car mechanic and hope with the age of my car I wont require the use of one of these. I will try and interest my youngest son whose a bit more into this than I am. If I do get one ( none on ebay at present) I'll let you know how I get on.
