Software on CD's

Having a tidy up, and I realised I have some software on cd's. Obviously it will be personal choice do I keep or bin them, I am thinking of binning them since I have windows XP MS office, FrontPage and some others.

Do you have any programmes on CD that are now obsolete?

I already have a coaster for my coffee.

Like most things these days it is (seemingly) pointless to keep such old stuff unless there is the possibility that it may acquire some intrinsic value sometime in the future.

I'd suggest that most - of not all - the programs on those disks are available as downloads from some site that keeps records of such and/or the OEM as a legacy download.

I used to keep a magazine collection - well, I still have it but haven't updated it recently - as there are online libraries that have them all for instant access now.

I suppose that, in the event of some internet catastrophe, access is lost then this may just be temporary and/or others will have backups that are made available via the likes of Torrent sites etc.

Now, if those disks were still attached to the original magazine covers.............
