I was trying to help a friend who is fairly immobile and vision impaired. His main source of entertainment is his TV and he has had Sky for a long time. Earlier this year he had a new big TV installed by Curry's. He was telling me over the last few months that he cannot record one channel and watch another and I put this down to him not seeing the remote well enough with his vision. Anyway, I popped in to see him and had a look. He lives in a flat with a communal dish and I know these can cause issues. When I checked there was only one satellite cable connected which was strange as he has two F plug outlets on a wall plate? I went home and made up a new lead and returned and fitted it. Still no joy so I am thinking that someone may have been juggling with his connections on the communal dish?
I went to the settings and if you press 001 it opens the installer menu and there is a prompt on a menu that allows single line feed on/off. It was set to on so I switched it off pressed save and the box rebooted. It sorted it and it works now recording and watching another channel simultaneously. As he is a bit confused he could not shed light on what had happened to the cable etc. The only people who touched it were the Curry's delivery/installer but why take a lead off??
Anyway, my good deed turned into a day of back and forth.
The 001 hidden menu may help someone.

Sky Plus box connection problem
Pat on the back for you
I have a neighbor who call me in last time the TV went wrong. I found all the leads muddled up. Who changed these?" "No one" he says "it's never been touched". I set the thing up for him a couple of months before, amazing where these Gremlins get to ain't it!
