Hi, I decided to try to replace the top cover on my HP laptop since it got bent. I have successfully moved all components from the old top cover to the new cover and even have the computer/monitor working. The problem is there is this screw on the bracket of the monitor with some nuts on it that doesn’t seem to fit into the new top cover and preventing it from lining up on the right side. Is this something I need to strip?
Basically it doesn’t fit into the hole of the new cover.

Screw on laptop bracket

If you mean the small knurled brass "nutsert", pictured, that has pulled out of the old cover - the new cover already has one in. The threaded female sockets that you can see in the top photo - have a look at the old cover, it will just have a hole in the casing in the corresponding position.
Hold the brass part with pliers and undo the screw from the other side, then it will all line up and the screw goes in to the new cover.
Common problem in many laptops and other items of similar construction, do not overtighten the screws.

Screw on laptop bracket
The screw in the middle photo looks mildly damaged - make sure you are using the correct driver, Philips head & Pozidrive heads are different. Laptops are usually the former, which is a straight cross.
Pozidrive screws have a star design, a pozidriver has little flutes in the grooves, to show you which is which. Not all crosshead screws are the same......
