Identification of wood

Post by Imp1966 »

Hi, just in the process of renovating a very large wooden bay window and would like to identify the wood. I have just started to sand it all down. Can anyone help please in identifying the wood from the photos?

It's softwood of some kind, and looks like good quality. Possibly pitch pine, Western yellow pine, larch or could be something else.
All good timber and worth saving. An idea how old it is?
