Nissan Micra scratch, graze marks and front window dropping

Dear ALL,
I have Nissan Micra 5 door Green, i have few scratches on the roof top side door and some are grazed on the door by kids bikes, as they some time crash in to the car,as my car is parked on the street.

There is another problem the front door window on the passenger side the window keeps dropping even though i placed cardboard where the glass holds to make it tight, as soon as i raised the windoe it comes out of the bracket.

Please advise.

You can get some scratch repair kits from the car accessory shops, they are like a wax stick and are the same colour as the paint on your car. It's worth trying one of those first and if that does not work you could try T cutting the scratches out.

The scrapes look minimal, a touch up stick and a good polish and you might get lucky.

The window, sounds like the regulator has come adrift, or the track inside the door has been dislodged. Take the door trim off, and it should then be obvious.
A few screws, probably concealed by door handle etc, a window seal strip(be carefull removing this, dont kink it)
And some plastic trim clips, normally just pull off. Window winder (if it has one) will need to be removed aswell.

Dear All,
I have used colour magic and the colour stick which came with it, but it does not cover it up the scatch and grazed marks. Scratch marks are not deep and i though this would of covered it up, but it is still visble on the roof top and on side doors.

Front door Window i have taken the armrest, window winder and door locking screw off and took the whole panel trim off.

There is plastic cover which i only took of half of the area only and i saw the glass sits on the two plastci clamps on either side. What happens is when you wind the window up the window tend to drop out from the clamp. So checked if the bolt is loose, it is ok tight. I added peice of cardboard packing to make it tight fit between the clamp and glass, it worked but same problem again, as it drop out from one of the clamps which holds the glass.

Any ideas.

The plastic cover is only a moisture barrier.

Iv not been inside a nissan door. If its coming out of the clamp, theres probably an underlying cause as to why. A bit difficult to say what the problem might be without seeing it.

Some makers use rubber strips between metal and glass to form a good grip, and a few also bond the bottom chanel onto the window. I dont know, but am wondering if the glass should be bonded to the track...


An idea may be to remove the doorcard the other side and compare the two?

I will show it to a MECHANIC. However i looked at the window there was something white on the bottom of the glass which sits on the Plastic holder. i do not know if this worn out.

re the Colour - if the stuff you have bought so far has not worked, you could try getting a 2-pack paint repair kit from Nissan.
Usually work by applying a relatively thick 'blob' to the ding and the paint stands slightly proud. Then 10 mins later you smooth off with the buffer that is part of the lid, then apply a top laquer coat and then once dry, smooth that off in the same way.

Sounds like it could be supposed to be bonded to the clips then Siraz.
You could give a autoglazing company a buzz, or perhaps do it yourself if you can find a suitable adhesive.

when removing scratches always try a cutting compound 1st; G3 being one of the best but you do need a polisher as by hand its quite difficult to get the product to work.

one of the pics looks as if the lacquer is peeling or have you cleaned the dusts off for the pic?

the windows either have a bent side rail making the window drop or the two plastic lugs are knackered. as Hitch says; take the trim off and move the window; see at what point it drops and take it from there.

Dear Raf,
Where can you buy the cutting compound 1st; G3 from, as i live in preston, Lancashire.

The Lacquer is not peeling is just the dust which i cleaned off.

We did look at the window and we took the door trim off, as it goes half way it just drops out from one of the bracket.

I will show it to Autoglass or send the picture if i take the trim off again of the Nissan micra.

from recent experience, rather than autoglass, id try a couple of the smaller auto glazing companys. The price that Augtoglass gave me was 4x that of the company that i used.

I've found generally that if you nip into the main dealer for your car and have a little word with the service reception, they will probably get a mechanic to pop out and have a quick look at the problem.
So if you go there with the trim off ready for a Nissan Mechanic to cast his eyes on the door, I think you'll get a good idea of what is up

G3 can be bought from good auto spares type shops (not halfords); if you're stuck you can ask at Raynors paints or other good bodyshops; if you dont have a polisher you will be better (if T cut doesnt work) to get a bodyshop to look at it. ask them to buff the whole car..... it'll look new(ish) once done.

agree with the boys above that autoglass is an expensive choice.
