Painting walls
Post by Blushing lad »
Hi all.
I've painted walls in the living room but when I turn lights on I can see plasterboard joints in the paint on one wall.
Do I sand down the lines and repaint or fill over lines, sand ,and repaint?
On one wall because of patio doors with the light coming through there is a bump can I sand this down and repaint.

Be a bit careful here. This could be a drylined room where plasterboards are fixed and jointing plaster is used to smooth over just the joins. This might, and I stress might, mean that the board cardboard face has been painted over rather than have a plaster skim. If you start sanding you might tear off the card face giving yourself a right headache of a remedial. I suggest that you do a small patch test at skirting level to establish what lays beneath before proceeding with your plan.

Okay sand the humps flat and fill any pinholes with fine surface filler. It is best to paint the whole wall as an overpainted area may show.

If it's been skimmed mate it probably won't sand that well. I'd get the plasterer back in.dewaltdisney wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 4:27 pm Okay sand the humps flat and fill any pinholes with fine surface filler. It is best to paint the whole wall as an overpainted area may show.
