Using Wagner 250 Control Pro

Post by Argyll »

I bought this a few months ago and will use it tomorrow for the first time. I plan to use Delux Emulsion on it and wondered how much to dilute it by with water? I don't think it mentions anywhere but I'd guess 20%.

Does anyone have any tips on using it that are not mentioned here:

Nothing?

I used it a few days ago. Masking up is a PITA but afterwards, I painted the whole room including the ceiling in about 15mins. Cleaning takes about 10 minutes so not the ballache I've read about.

The only drawback was I left the heating on overnight and some of the masking tape had become unstuck so I had to re-do. I've also bought a 300mm extension rod for doing the ceiling so I don't have to get up on the step ladders.

I'll definitely be using it more often.

How much dilution did you need A? My experience with my HVLP was a pain but I was using solvent based paint and it was difficult to get a sprayable viscosity. The clean-up was a ball ache too, but as this was furniture there was not too much masking needed. I guess the potential saving by spraying a room is measured by the time taken to mask?

I initially used Delux Matt (not trade). There was no mention of dilution rate so I called them up and they advised not to spray but couldn't tell me why! So I ignored them and diluted 10%. It went on lovely. I ran out and then used Leyland Trade Matt from TS, diluted by 10% and again went on lovely.

It's a rental so I convinced the landlord just to paint it all white. SO I only had to mask the radiator and skirting and architraving.

I watched an Aussie geezer on YouTube of the best way to clean and it took about ten minutes.

Masking is the only pain. I think the tape came off because I left the heating on full blast. And it was masking tape from B&M. I might use better stuff next time.
