flat roof firring advice

Post by hotnuts21 »

Hi all, I'm flat roofing a new small extension roof and the firrings need to run at right angles/perpendicular to the joists so I want to make sure the firrings are upto the job for a warm flat roof.

Over a 3.6m length the firring will go from 100mm to 40mm, they will also overhang at the end by 100mm to cover the cladding with a soffit/eaves.

The thing I'm not sure about is do I need to cut down a 100mm C24 joist or will standard stud timber be ok?

Thanks
