Painting over sized new skim

Post by adorableade »

Hi,

I have a new wall in the room dry lined and skimmed. I sized it for lining paper but have now decided just to paint rather than paper. Can I just mist coat as usual the sized wall?

Emulsion can react to wallpaper paste causing it to "craze" (fine hairline cracks in the paint) so you need to prime the wall first with a coat of Zinsser Gardz. If it's just one wall, a 1 ltr tin of Gardz should be enough. It's very runny so take your time otherwise it'll spray everywhere off the roller.
